The short answer is YES.
DEF Freezes at 12°. Most regions do not experience these cold of temps for a prolonged period. If you are in a colder region it may benefit you to purchase a heated solution system. These systems are quite pricey however there are cheaper ways to avoid freezing. Ill talk about DIY cold storage solutions in a later post.
If you are using a traditional tote set-up in a region that has four seasons but doesn’t frequently hit 12° then you should just keep snow off of the tote and away from the hose.
The hose has a 3/4” diameter and will freeze well before the DEF in the tote. If the DEF does freeze, worry not.
The DEF will not lose quality after it has thawed out. To return flow just apply heat to the hose using a heat gun or a hair dryer would also do the trick.
Lastly, there is no such thing as winter additive for DEF.
